The Cosy Bar Belfast: A Divine Pub in heart of East Belfast

Some images I got from the chef of the famous "Cosy Burger" and Lamb Shank.

This pub serves local cuisine, it is open every Sunday for. It is tucked away off the Cregagh road set in a  local community. The bar is mainly filled with locals and has a strong regular customer base. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to satisfy the needs of customers.

The independently owned Cosy Bar is filled with paintings from Belfast's culture. This bar has a great ambiance. Their moto is 'The Cosy Bar, where you enter as a stranger and leave as a friend'. I think this shows how friendly the bar is as it welcomes regulars and new customers. The seating is traditional red and green cushioned. It has a homely feel inside with the dark interior, it makes you feel relaxed and is a peaceful setting. The main bar is full with locals enjoying their usual pints. The upstairs has a much more restaurant feel to it. The colour scheme upstairs is tan and light blue. It is fresh and has been recently updated. As we arrived we had a selection of seats to choose from on the higher level area or on the ground level with tables and booths. The menu differs each Sunday meaning you get a set of new choices weekly. They have great choices of draugh beer and ciders serving Guinness, Harp, Rockshore, Carlsberg, Smithwicks red ale, Strongbow, Magners and Outcider. There is also a selection wine and spirits.

The starters are always varied with a soup. I have had the potato and leek soup and the vegetable soup. I thought the soups were flavoursome and great for an Autumn's day to warm up in a 'Cosy' environment.

I personally think you can't beat a Sunday Roast. I have been here many times now and every time I opt for the Roast dinner. The recently new chef Paul is great at pleasing everyone, with a meal that suits everyone's desire. My personal favourite is the 'Roast Silver-Side of Beef, (served with creamy mash, Yorkshire pudding, roasted vegetables & red wine gravy). The beef was mouth watering with a side boat of gravy given to soak up the beef even more. Everyone who knows me knows I LOVE Yorkshire puddings, they are cooked from scratch and I must admit I had to ask for more and had four in total!

Last Sunday when I went in, the music was playing in the background, the staff were all cheerful and welcoming upon my arrival. I wanted to try something different than the roast beef, so I got 'Roast Turkey and Glazed Ham.(served with creamy mash, pigs N blankets, seasonal veg, pork & sage stuffing and wine & thyme jus). This was very filling and cooked to perfection. I am not usually a dessert person, however when I went last Sunday I got the 'Sherry Trifle Cheesecake',(served with a jelly shot). This was incredible, I usually only eat vanilla cheesecakes, as I can be quite a plain eater at times, but this was phenomenal. The flavours were incredible, it tasted just like a trifle. It was the perfect trio with the bread, sherry jelly and the delicious cheesecake. It worked so well together and was nice and light which was great as I couldn't manage anything heavier after my big roast dinner.

I would highly recommend the Cosy Bar for food as it is the perfect place if you want a home cooked meal that you would never make as delicious yourself! You can't beat a Sunday meal out where you get that homely feel without having to cook or have any washing up to do in your house! Sit back, relax and tuck into an amazing meal with great value for money in the Cosy.
