RYAN'S BAR BELFAST: A NEIGHBORHOOD PUB IN THE HEART OF SOUTH BELFAST

I heard from word of mouth that Ryan's Bar does great food, so I thought I must try it out for myself! I booked a table on their website online which was very straightforward to use. When I arrived I thought how handy it is, situated at the top of the Lisburn Road. Inside had a dark vibe from the dim lighting with lots of regulars enjoying a drink.  From the moment we stepped in we were greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The rustic decor with the high bar chairs creates a great ambiance.

The menu has lots of different options, that made it hard to choose what to get! What really caught my eye was the offer of any main meal with a starter or dessert for £14. I thought this was a great deal especially when most food prices in restaurants have increased. Also, this deal is on everyday which you don't see in many places.

They had a great drinks selection with a number of cocktails which looked amazing. As well as perfectly poured pints of Guinness, other draught pints and a varied wine and spirits list. I'm not a big beer drinker but I had a pint of Rockshore which was so refreshing. The food menu showcased both traditional Irish dishes and international flavours.  My friend and I chose our starters of 'Halloumi fries (chilli jam and mixed leaves) and 'pulled pork nachos'. I love halloumi so I had to try these and they did not disappoint! The flavour in these starters were so good especially the nachos. These were a true delight, offering a rich and satisfying start to our meal. We have had these twice now because they are too good not to pick!

For main course I had the 'chicken tempura (cajun batter, dressed leaves, sweet chilli sauce, garlic mayo, chips)'. The chicken was perfectly cooked, encased in a light crispy batter. The sweet chilli sauce was very flavoursome with the chicken tempura and golden, crispy skinny fries. My friend got the 'seafood risotto (prawns, mussels, chorizo & pea).'  This dish was presented beautifully with balsamic glaze around the plate. If you are a seafood fan this is the meal for you as the explosion of taste was a winner! I have also tried 'Ryan's chicken or vegetable curry (rice, naan)' as I have been twice now, I couldn't resist going back.! It is great their is a vegetarian curry option too but I opted for the chicken. The curry was very tasty with flavour and spice. If you don't like spicy foods it might not be your favourite dish though!

Ryan's Bar was a truly comforting and satisfying experience. In my opinion Ryan's Bar is the perfect place for good value, home cooked meals. It is an absolute gem for food enthusiasts. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They prepare the dishes with precision and passion. The warm ambiance, friendly service and attention to detail create an unforgettable dining experience. I would recommend to many... locals, students and tourists visiting Belfast, to try out this local bar.
